Term 1 2016
Classroom News
The New Entrant class has another exciting, innovative and creative term planned ahead of us. I hope you all had a great break and will be ready for a busy term.
Parent Help
Parent help to assist in the class with supporting children, helping with art, IT and sport activities is always appreciated. If you wish to help in the class please come in and see us or email times that suit you. We would love a parent each morning.
Your child loves seeing you in the class helping out at times.

Our unit/topics for the term:
Weeks 1-3 All about me (Health/Art/Literacy)
Weeks 4-6 Creatures great and small
Week 7-9 Camp: Farm animals
Week 10-11 Easter
Values
Our value that we will be focusing on this term is
“ Relating to others”.
Dates to Remember
Parent Evening: February 11
Class Camp: March 20/21st
Swimming Sports: March 7th
PMP: Tuesday March 25th
Rap-unzel: April 8th
Please Note
Yoghurts in the lunchbox often end up split on the decks and we do have a child who is anaphylactic with dairy. So if you could save the yoghurts for after school it would be appreciated.
Please ensure your child has a school hat (get from the office) and a drink bottle of fresh water each day.
Routines
Settling In Before School
Your child will be expected to be responsible for all their belongings and be ready to start the day. Please make sure your child is at school with enough time to put their book bag inside and their reader into the book box. Then sign in on the computer.
Library Books
Library Day is Tuesday. Your child is allowed their books for two weeks; however they can bring them back earlier and have them changed at library time.
Homework
Readers: Your child will have a set reader Monday to Thursday.
It is important for you to model reading. Say to your child “Listen to how I read and see if you can try it like that” or “Let’s read this page together.”
Home learning: A Home Learning Book will go home on a Monday and is to be returned on a Friday
Swimming
We will be swimming three times a week (Monday, Tuesday and Friday)
All children are expected to swim and need to please bring their togs in a separate waterproof bag.
We look forward to working with you this year.
